The Essilor shareholders' meeting ratified the marriage of the group (lens manufacturer) with Luxottica, world leader in the production of high-end eyewear.
The definitive verdict in favor of the wedding came from the general meeting of Essilor's shareholders in Paris: they approved a dozen points relating to the integration plan with Luxottica, with percentages in favor of between 95% and 99%.
In particular, it was Leonardo Del Vecchio was approved with 96% of the votes. Once the first three-year mandate has expired, the leadership will be the turn of a Frenchman. The board will be made up of eight directors appointed by Delfin – Leonardo Del Vecchio, Romolo Bardin, Giovanni Giallombardo, Francesco Milleri, Raffaella Mazzoli, Gianni Mion, Lucia Morselli and Cristina Scocchia. There are also eight directors appointed by Essilor.
La merger between Essilor and Luxottica it was announced in January and all formal steps are expected to be completed within the year.
