State exam: which are the qualifying degrees and which are not

With a bill, the government eliminates the months of waiting necessary for the state exam and internships: here are the new rules and to which professions they will apply

State exam: which are the qualifying degrees and which are not

It will be a real revolution that will affect millions of students. For certain professions the post-graduate state exam will no longer be necessary to acquire the qualification. This is established by a bill containing "New provisions on qualifying university qualifications" approved by the Government. The text will now have to be examined by Parliament and, if approved, it will involve "a radical simplification of the procedures for accessing the exercise of regulated professions". The purpose of the provision is to facilitate access to the world of work for young people, simplifying and reducing the road between the discussion of the thesis and the effective exercise of the profession.

Important innovations will also concern the practical evaluation internship that will be carried out within the degree course.

STATE EXAM AND INTERNSHIP: THE NEWS

With the new bill, once you graduate, you will no longer have to wait months to find out the date of the tests for the State Exam, but it will be precisely in the context of the final exam of the degree course that thousands of young people will take the State exam to qualify to practice the profession. Simply put, the session will last longer and, together with the discussion of the thesis, a technical test valid for the State Exam will be taken in front of a commission of experts and professionals

Not only that, just to speed up the entire process. The internship will be incorporated into the course of study.

WHICH DEGREE DEGREE WILL BE ENABLED

As mentioned, the bill establishes three different steps. The new rules will immediately apply to the following degree classes and related professions:

  • Single-cycle Master's Degrees in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics,
  • master's degrees in Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy,
  • Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine,
  • Master's Degrees in Psychology.

Subsequently it will be the turn of the three new professional degrees introduced this year.

  • surveyors,
  • agricultural technicians,
  • land surveyors and industrial surveyors.

The third step will instead concern the qualification to practice the professions of:

  • food technologist,
  • agronomist and forestry doctor,
  • landscape planner and conservator,
  • social worker,
  • actuary,
  • biologist,
  • chemist,
  • geologist.

In these cases, however, the request of the councils of the professional orders or colleges or of the relative national federations will be necessary "with one or more regulations to be adopted on the proposal of the Minister of University and Research, in agreement with the Minister supervising the order or the competent professional board".

EXCEPT ARCHITECTS, ENGINEERS AND ACCOUNTANTS

For the moment, architects, engineers and accountants remain excluded from the innovations approved by the government. According to Sun 24 Hours, for them there would have been the "red light" of the Ministry of Justice, which is responsible for supervision.
