Erg and Carrefour go shopping in the UK and Spain

Double acquisition in the European market. The protagonists of the operations are the energy company Erg Renew and the French large-scale distribution group Carrefour. Erg entered the UK wind market by purchasing from TCI Renewables (TCI) 100% of the capital of Brockaghboy Windfarm Ltd (BWF), a company incorporated under English law that holds the necessary authorizations for construction of a wind farm in Northern Ireland, in the county of Londonderry, with an expected capacity of around 45 MW and an estimated electricity production, when fully operational, of around 150 GWh per year, equal to around 3.300 equivalent hours and around 71 kt of CO2 emissions avoided.

According to a statement, the company expects to begin construction of the wind farm in the second quarter of 2016 and complete construction by the end of the first quarter of 2017. The estimated total investment for the construction of the park is about 60 million pounds (about 80 million euros) already inclusive of the initial consideration recognized for the purchase of the company. The project – continues the note – satisfies the conditions for accreditation to the current incentive mechanisms (NIRO) envisaged by the bill being examined by the Parliament of the United Kingdom. With this operation Erg Renew therefore enters the wind power market in the United Kingdom, as envisaged in the Erg 2015-18 strategic plan.

Carrefour, the French large-scale distribution group, has instead signed an agreement with the Spanish group Eroski for the purchase of 36 hypermarkets in Spain. This was announced by the company which did not communicate the cost of the operation: the agreement also provides for the purchase of eight shopping arcades and 22 service stations, underlined Carrefour, which in Spain already has 173 hypermarkets, 126 supermarkets, 419 shops and 123 petrol stations.
