Equitalia: collected 2014 billion in 7,4

Based on data updated to 31 December last, which will be consolidated in the next few days, in 2014 Equitalia collected more than 7,4 billion euros on behalf of the various public creditor bodies (Revenue Agency, Inps, local bodies, etc.), with an increase of about 4% compared to 7,1 billion in 2013.

These are arrears of taxes, contributions and penalties, i.e. not paid by taxpayers within the times and in the manner prescribed by law and for which the public creditor bodies have asked Equitalia to send the payment folders. The action to recover the sums owed by large debtors was significant. The reduction in production, administrative and personnel costs continued in the past year as well. The financial statements, which will be presented in the coming months, will therefore record the economic equilibrium of the management.

The Group's economic and financial position as at 30 September 2014, in fact, confirms the positive trend already recorded in recent years. The efficiency-enhancing actions carried out helped to maintain management balance, allowing the first nine months of 2014 to close with a positive net result of around 10 million euro.

“In 2014 Equitalia increased the collection volumes, reversing the trend of recent years in which there was a downward trend, and continued on the path of simplification and dialogue with taxpayers – says Benedetto Mineo, Equitalia CEO – In the year that has just begun, we will try to further expand our ability to assist taxpayers in difficulty and, in synergy with the main tax authorities, we will carry out even more targeted collection actions towards large debtors who steal huge resources from the tax authorities to the detriment of the whole collectivity".
