Enel Green Power, the renewables division of Enel, has concluded the acquisition of 100% of the share capital of Amec Foster Wheeler Power by Amec Foster Wheeler Italiana, a well-established group in global innovation, project supply, active support, electrical equipment and consultancy, owner of two wind farms in Campania with a total installed capacity of 54,5 megawatts.

The two plants involved in the acquisition, which have been in operation since 2006 and 2008, are located in the province of Avellino and generate around 90 GWh a year. The 54,5 megawatts of plants acquired add up to approximately 718 megawatts of installed wind capacity currently managed by the company in Italy.

Going into the details of the acquisition, Enel Green Power and Amec Foster Wheeler Italiana completed the transaction following the preliminary agreement for the purchase and sale of the shares, signed in December 2016. The total amount of the agreement is 21 million euros.

Enel Green Power, states the company's press release, "thus confirms its leadership in all renewable technologies: geothermal, hydroelectric, wind, solar and biomass". The company intends to increase the total installed capacity, further developing its presence on the Italian territory.

The company boasts a great tradition in hydroelectric technology (over 12 Gigawatts of installed capacity), in addition to 34 geothermal plants (which ensure an annual production of over 5 TWh) and an installed capacity of approximately 772 MW in wind power. In the solar sector, on the other hand, Enel Green Power directly manages 23 MW, in addition to the 360 MW of capacity of the EF Solare Italia joint venture.
