Enrollments are open for the "Executive Course" in the management of artistic and cultural heritage

First edition of executive course in “Management of artistic-cultural heritage and corporate collections" to encourage the growth of the skills of professionals working in the sector as a qualifying element of the Italian cultural system. The course, sponsored by Mibact, was born out of the experience acquired by Intesa Sanpaolo over the years with Progetto Cultura, the Bank's program which since 2011 has been protecting, managing and enhancing the Intesa Sanpaolo collections - over 30 works of which around 3.500 of particular historical-artistic value, the Gallerie d'Italia with the three museums in Milan, Naples and Vicenza and the one soon to open in Turin, the Group's historical archive, the Restitutions project.

The project, unique in Italy, is carried out by Intesa Sanpaolo with the support of the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation and the Cariplo Foundation, in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo Formazione and the 1563 Foundation for Art and Culture and conceived with the scientific contribution of the Foundation School of Cultural Heritage and Activities; the initiative adds an important element to the philanthropic activities carried out in the cultural sphere by the Cariplo and Compagnia San Paolo foundations, which every year make huge resources available for projects in the area for the enhancement and promotion of artistic and architectural assets. Improving the skills of those who work in this area is also one of the foundations' objectives, as is access to cultural opportunities, especially for that public and for those people who usually don't have the opportunity or the means to approach or use them.

Among the topics covered, the protection of the assets of individuals, non-profit institutions and businesses, the institutional legal context in Italy and abroad, the public-private relationship and the new forms of partnership, the innovative practices of heritage managementcollection management in the private and corporate sphere, the economic-financial and accounting dimension of cultural assets and activities, strategies for the enhancement and expansion of the use of corporate and private assets.

The course, under the organizational direction of Intesa Sanpaolo Formazione, is coordinated by prof. Guido Guerzoni, professor at the Bocconi University. The lessons are held by academics from Italian universities, professionals, cultural and business managers, museum directors and officials, a faculty that demonstrates the close relationship between the public sector and the private sector as a fundamental lever for development and a qualifying element for policies for the protection, management and enhancement of cultural heritage.

The initiative is the first step in a broader training project being defined, Gallerie d'Italia Academy, a further commitment by Intesa Sanpaolo towards the world of art and culture aimed at establishing a qualified pool of specialized professionals in one of the most active and characterizing sectors for the country.

The course is aimed at graduates with at least two years of work experience, preferably in the management of museums, archives and the artistic heritage of companies and individuals with the aim of increasing their managerial skills and relations with the local area. It lasts six months, from February to July 2021, with 144 hours of lessons held in twelve sessions (Friday afternoon and Saturday). It has a multidisciplinary and applicative approach based on the analysis and experimentation of concrete cases and on the direct exchange between teachers and participants. Until the health emergency persists, the course will be delivered digitally via the e-learning platform of the School of Cultural Heritage and Activities Foundation, scientific partner of the course. Any face-to-face meetings will be held in Milan, at the Gallerie d'Italia – Piazza Scala and in Turin, at the headquarters of the 1563 Foundation. Teaching may be supplemented by study visits to art venues, cultural institutions, corporate assets and museums. There are 8 scholarships provided by the 1563 Foundation for Art and Culture and by the Cariplo Foundation. The Gallerie d'Italia Fellowship program is also envisaged, which allows the participation of 4 additional candidates under the age of 32, who have obtained a research doctorate or a specialization diploma no more than 18 months ago in economics, law and history- arts related to art and culture not yet entered into the labor market.

So declare Alessandra Vittorini, director of the School of Cultural Heritage and Activities Foundation, an international institute of higher education and research, born in 2016 by the will of the MIBACT as an operational structure in support of innovation and qualification policies for cultural heritage professionals. «Because of this", Vittorini continues, "Together with Intesa Sanpaolo, we have studied a training program capable of creating in the participants that innovative and aware common language that we are convinced will generate positive effects for the entire heritage system".
