Eni continues to develop its business in Indonesia, where it has been active since 2001 and holds 14 permits, of which 8 as operator, located in the oil basins of Tarakan and Kutei (Eastern Borneo), North Sumatra of West Timor, as well as participate in the development of large gas reserves located in the blocks of Ganal and Rapak (Kutei basin).

Through its subsidiary Eni Indonesia, the company was awarded two new product sharing exploration contracts, an agreement which then provides for the division of the oil extracted between the state and the company. The first is located in eastern Indonesia, in the Papua West Province and consists of 100% of the Arguni I contract (5.386 square kilometres), located onshore and offshore in the Bintuni basin. The block is located 10 km east of the Tangguh liquefaction plant and the work program includes the acquisition of 2D and 3D seismic data and the drilling of two wells in the first 3 years of exploration.

The second concerns Eni as part of a consortium between Niko Resources Ltd, North Ganal Energy Ltd (wholly owned subsidiary of Black Platinum Energy Ltd), Statoil Indonesia North Ganal As and Gdf Suez. The six-legged dog has been awarded the contract for the North Ganal block (2432 square kilometres), of which it will operate, located in the eastern offshore of the province of Kalimantan. The agreement involves the drilling of a well and the acquisition of 200 km of 2D seismic in the first 3 years of exploration.
