Eni, Scaroni: “Fourth term? I would like"

Paolo Scaroni aims to remain in charge of Eni. To say it is the CEO of the oil group himself who, in an interview with Giovanni Minoli, replied "I would like to" when asked if he aspired to a fourth term at the helm of Eni.

As for his maxi-salary, Scaroni declared that he "isn't sure if he's the highest paid, maybe it's too much but this is a decision up to the shareholders".

Moving on to less personal topics, Eni's CEO spoke of the company's problems, such as production in Libya: "there are no risks for gas supplies this winter but it is a problem for Eni which produces a third of what it produced in the past, it is a problem for us”. "I don't see any risks for the winter – this is Scaroni's comment -, we are not freezing".

Eni's CEO went on to shoot Gaddafi at zero, describing him as "a madman who destroyed institutions" and stating that "all the problems Libya has today depend on him".

On Saipem Scaroni declares himself calm: "We are not managing it, what happened will be decided by the magistrates". "We – clarifies the CEO of Eni – are completely calm, we have nothing to do with it", referring to the allegations of bribes in Algeria against the subsidiary. Scaroni then denies any closeness with the former chief operating officer Pietro Varone, who had brought him up in recent days: "I don't know him, I don't frequent him and I helped get him fired".

Finally Scaroni, the day after the meeting held in Vienna with the Iranian oil minister Bijan Zanganeh, declared that Iran is a "hydrocarbon paradise", clarifying that ENI is the country's first international partner.
