Eni, Scaroni: "Iraq, sign within two weeks or we'll leave"

"We are hopeful, but if the contracts are not signed within two weeks we will leave". This was stated by the managing director of Eni, Paolo Scaroni, answering questions regarding the company's contracts in Iraq, on the sidelines of the workshop on the renewal of the collaboration agreement with the Cnr.

Scaroni, quoting an article that appeared in yesterday's Financial Times, complained of the excessive bureaucracy in the Asian country. “They should have signed six months ago – he concluded – and we have no reason to believe that they won't”. Otherwise, the CEO has already clarified, Eni is ready to leave.

Meanwhile, in the mid-morning, Eni's shares suffered a slight decline in Piazza Affari, in line with the trend of the Italian stock exchange.
