Eni, Saipem awarded new contracts for 800 million

About 800 million dollars: this is the value of the new contracts signed in South America and West Africa by Saipem, a company of the Eni Group. Staatsolie, the public oil company of Suriname, has awarded the Italian the contract for the expansion of the Tout Lui Faut refinery, 20 kilometers south of Paramaribo, the capital. The aim of the project is to double the capacity of the refinery, which should produce 15 barrels per day. Times are quite long: at least 43 months.

In Nigeria, Saipem has been awarded the contract with Shell petroleum development to build the gas pipeline between Otumara and Saghara-Escravos. The project will be implemented as part of a Shell program to reduce associated gas flaring in the country. The pipeline, 42 kilometers long, will have a diameter varying from 2 to 12 inches and will cross marshy areas and a large stream, collecting approximately 30 million cubic feet per day of already treated associated gas, coming from the Otumara and Saghara fields, in the western part of the Niger Delta.

The gas will be conveyed to the domestic market through the Escravos-Lagos transport system, making it possible to reduce flaring of the gas associated with oil production (flaring). The project will be completed in 18 months and will be fully executed in Nigeria, including Project Management and Procurement activities.
