Eni restarts exploration activities for drilling in Libya

Eni announces the restart of onshore exploration activities in Libya through the drilling of the A1-108/4 exploration well located in the Sirte basin, approximately 300 kilometers south of Benghazi. The company communicated it.

The well, operated by Eni North Africa, a company wholly owned by Eni, will reach a total depth of approximately 4.420 meters and will have the task of testing the potential of a new exploration prospect located in Contract Area A of EPSA IV 2008.

"This is the first of a series of wells planned as part of the onshore drilling program which will continue in 2013 and which marks another important step for the resumption of Eni's exploration and production activities in the country", reads the note .

Eni was the first international oil company to restart production at the Abu Attifel field in September 2011 through Mellitah Oil & Gas, a joint venture 50% owned by NOC and 50% by Eni. Eni was also the first company to have lifted, last December, the state of force majeure in Libya and to have resumed offshore exploration activities in February 2012 with the acquisition of a 3D seismic survey.
