Eni is not only aiming for expansion abroad, all over the world, but also interesting projects in Italy. This was revealed by an article in the Sole 24 Ore according to which the Italian oil company is planning a new oil field just outside Novara, which will be able to guarantee millions of barrels of crude oil and years of extraction.
According to the business newspaper, Eni is awaiting the results of the geological analyses, which will require a total investment of 30 million euros. To get to exploitation, however, the project, which sees Eni in partnership with Petroceltic and Condotte, still has to overcome some obstacles. In fact, to proceed with exploratory drilling, it is necessary the ministerial authorization, with the environmental impact assessment and the OK (non-binding) from the Region. And this is where the Nimby effect (not in my backyard) could come into play, with strong local opposition that has manifested itself above all in recent months.
