Today, theCEO di Eni Claudio Descalzi and President and General Manager of Sonatrach Toufik Hakkar, they inaugurated the solar lab in southeastern Algeria. It was also laid there foundation stone of a 10 MW photovoltaic system at the production site of Bir Rebaa North (BRN), in the Berkine Basin, whose construction site is scheduled for 2023. Present at the event was President of Eni Lucia Calvosa and Board of Directors who chose to meet in the historic BRN plant, in the Algerian desert, to underline thestrategic importance that the country plays for the company.

Solar Lab strategic value for the promotion of renewable sources in Algeria

The Solar Lab has various types of photovoltaic panels suitable to be tested in the extreme irradiation conditions found in southern Algeria, allowing for data analysis and collection. It will be open to public institutions and universities for research purposes.

The Solar Lab aims to be a strategic point of reference for the promotion and development of renewable energy sources in Algeria.

Eni had recently completed another important operation in Algeria with the acquisition of the assets of BP in the country, including two major new gas fields.
