Eni expands gas production Mozambique: new 200 billion cubic meter field discovered

Eni expands production in Mozambique: the six-legged dog has announced that it has discovered a new gas field during the Coral 1 exploration prospect.

The new field, whose capacity is estimated between 198 and 282 billion cubic meters, brings the potential of the resources belonging exclusively to Area 4 between i 424 and 566 billion of cubic meters of gas in place.

The new discovery, explains the company, "further increases the overall potential of Area 4, currently estimated at between 1.330 and 1.471 billion cubic meters of gas".

Coral 1 was drilled in 2.261 meters of water and reached a total depth of 4.869 meters. The well is located 26 kilometers southeast of Mamba Sud 1 and about 65 kilometers off the coast of Cape Delgado.

The discovery, continues Eni, ”is of particular importance as it has tested a new exploration objective independent of those drilled so far with the Mamba wells. Eni plans to carry out one production test on the discovery of Coral 1. With this new success, Eni plans to drill at least 5 other wells to complete the assessment of the additional potential of Area 4”.

Eni is operator in Area 4 with a 70% interest. The other partners of the joint venture are Galp Energia (10%), Kogas (10%) and Enh (10%, scope in exploration phase).
