Eni, two new concessions in the Egyptian offshore

The Italian energy giant has acquired the Egyptian offshore blocks of North Leil and Karawan, further strengthening its pre-eminent position in the North African country.

Eni, two new concessions in the Egyptian offshore

Good news for Eni which, as part of the EGAS 2013 competitive international bid round, signed two new concession agreements to acquire the Egyptian offshore blocks of North Leil and Karawan, becoming operator with 100% and 50% stakes, respectively % (in equal partnership, in this case, with Bp).

The Italian energy group will operate on the two blocks, which are located in the deep waters of the Egyptian Mediterranean offshore, west of the Shorouk block, through its subsidiary IEOC.

The two awards further strengthen Eni's dominant position in Egypt, a country which, historically, has great strategic importance for the Italian group, which in this way relaunches its exploration activity in the offshore of the North African country, where Eni it is the largest producer in the country with its own production quota of approximately 210.000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
