Eni closes the Oil Center in Val d'Agri

The decision was taken "out of respect for the positions expressed by the territory, by the President of the Basilicata Region and by the Regional Council"

Eni has decided to temporarily close the Val d'Agri Oil Center and has therefore started the procedures to shut down the plant. This was announced by the oil group in a statement.

The decision was taken "out of respect for the positions expressed by the territory, by the President of the Basilicata Region and by the Regional Council", continues Eni. In practice, the Region blocked the plant once again claiming that Eni was attributable to "defaults and delays" in Viggiano where the plant is located which processes thousands of barrels of oil every day.

Referring to press release released by the Basilicata Region over the weekend, however, the group specifies that it has fulfilled all the requirements imposed by the competent bodies, which have always been kept informed on the intervention and environmental monitoring activities in progress.

During the closure, "Eni will continue with the necessary checks to reassure stakeholders of the correctness and effectiveness of its operations, the integrity of the plant and the presence of all the safety conditions for carrying out operating activities", concludes the note .
