Eni today inaugurated the construction site for the Green Data Center. This will be the headquarters that will house all of the company's central processing information systems. It will be built in Ferrera Erbognone, in the province of Pavia, not far from the Enipower power station.
The new center, entirely Italian, will be used for both management information technology and seismic simulation processing. Here, “the most innovative energy-saving infrastructures will be used – reads a note from Eni – also allowing for a significant reduction in operating costs. The energy efficiency of the new centre, which will be completed by 2012, will result in a reduction of CO2 emissions equal to 335 tonnes per year (equal to approximately 1% of the Italian Kyoto target for energy)”.
