Eni, agreement with General Electric for renewables

The agreement covers a wide range of innovative technologies, including onshore and offshore wind projects, solar energy, gas-renewable hybrid generation projects, electrification of new and existing assets, waste-to-energy projects, the conversion of mature industrial assets or discontinued.

Eni has signed a framework agreement with General Electric for the development of renewable energy projects and hybrid solutions with a focus on energy efficiency. With this agreement, Eni and GE intend to jointly identify and develop large-scale electricity generation projects from renewable sources.

The deal covers a broad range of innovative technologies, including onshore and offshore wind projects, solar energy, gas-renewable hybrid generation projects, electrification of new and existing assets, waste-to-energy projects, the conversion of mature or disused industrial assets into green plants and the use of technologies developed by Eni's Research and Development department.

Through this partnership, Eni intends to increase its ability to implement projects in the renewable energy sector, thanks to the consolidated relationship with GE in the design, construction and management of industrial Oil & Gas plants around the world, and GE's broad and diversified portfolio of products and technological solutions in the conventional energy and renewable energy sectors.

This agreement, which is part of Eni's strategy for the development of renewable energies based on the valorisation of all industrial and commercial synergies with the traditional business, will allow Eni to consistently pursue the progressive decarbonisation of the energy mix.

Eni is active in the renewable energy sector since 1980 and in 2015 he set up the Energy Solutions Department for the identification and implementation of large-scale projects in Italy and abroad.
