After closing with the Algerian Sonatrach less than a month ago, Eni hits another milestone in the renegotiation of take or pay gas contracts. Today, at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, the number one of the six-legged dog, Paolo Scaroni, and the CEO of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, signed an agreement for the reduction of gas prices for the whole of 2013. Furthermore, we read in the press release released by the two groups, there is the commitment to complete by 2013 the renegotiations on the prices and volumes of gas supplies relating to 2014 and subsequent years.

"The agreement concerns the price of gas that Eni buys from Gazprom, of which it is the first customer in the world", reported Scaroni speaking to the press at the end of his meeting with Miller. “We have reached a satisfactory agreement for the gas purchases we are making from January 31st to December XNUMXst of this year,” he explained. The two companies will have time "between now and the end of the year to negotiate all the contractual clauses currently in force and which are perhaps no longer suitable for today's markets", added Scaroni referring to the existing take or pay contracts. For his part, Miller, who spoke of an "increase in purchase volumes for this year", defined the agreement reached as very important.
