Eni wants to increase production from the Iraqi Zubair oil field, where 68 new wells will be opened next year. This was revealed by an Iraqi official, according to whom the goal is to reach 700 barrels a day by 2013. At the moment, the daily production of Zubair is around 270 barrels.
According to the same source, in addition to drilling new wells, it will be necessary to reorganize the existing ones, repairing pipelines and infrastructure.
"Eni and its partners aim to drill 42 wells in 2011 and another 26 in 2012," Abdul-Jabbar Mohammed, construction manager at Zubair, told Reuters. “About 125 electric pumps will be installed within the next three years.”
