Agreement between Terna, the Lazio Region and the Municipality of Rome on the electricity grid
The agreement – for a duration of five years – is aimed at the construction of infrastructures that will increase the efficiency, sustainability and safety of the capital's electricity system. Four "invisible" connections will therefore be created for a total of approximately 25 km for an investment of over 60 million euros.
In particular, the agreement provides for an important intervention on the Roman high-voltage network through the replacement of the entire 150 kiloVolt underground cable backbone that goes from the "Laurentina" Primary Substation to the one called "Flaminia" passing through the Primary Substations " Ostiense”, “Villa Borghese” and “Nomentana”.
Based on the agreement, Terna, in addition to replacing the high voltage connections, will carry out a series of compensatory interventions for the redevelopment, reclamation and conservation of the urban environment. In addition, the company will finance the construction of redevelopment works of numerous stretches of the Tiber quay to allow better use by citizens and tourists, including the installation of video surveillance and lighting systems along the quay and on the access stairs, the reclamation and cleaning of green areas, the pavement restoration and the arrangement of flood prevention systems.
Stefano Donnarumma, Terna's CEO, said: "Thanks to this important collaboration, we will therefore be able to make the capital's high voltage electricity grid even more sustainable and efficient, with cutting-edge technical and technological solutions, in full respect of the environment." , archaeological sites and the landscape, in the spirit of full sustainability".
