It is the first time that an Italian representative is in the top position of the world association. Integration of renewables, increased resilience and safety will be the focus in 2022

The company that manages the Italian electricity grid strengthens its role as director and enabler of the energy transition also at an international level. Starting January 1, and throughout 2022, Stefano Donnarumma, Chief Executive Officer of Terna, has been appointed new president of GO15, the association that brings together the main operators of electricity transmission infrastructures worldwide. It is the first time that an Italian representative has held this position. 

Under Donnarumma's presidency - reads a note - GO15 will continue along the path of sharing best practices and defining guidelines relating to a theme common to all managers of complex electrical systems: the need to enable the integration of renewable energy sources, by their nature not programmable, but essential for the achievement of international environmental targets, continuing to ensure ever greater security and quality of energy supply. This in a context in which each electricity system has specific characteristics, in terms of the structure of the existing grid, generation mix, availability of primary resources and the topography of the territory. 

The activity of the global association will also focus on sharing among members the best methodologies and tools available to increase the resilience of network infrastructures against increasingly intense and frequent extreme climatic phenomena.

In addition to the new president, the GO15 assembly held in Dubai completed the renewal of the offices for 2022, appointing the two vice presidents: John Bear of the US MISO (Midcontinent Independent System Operator) e Ahmed Ali Al-Ebrahim of the Saudi GCCIA (Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority).

Furthermore, Terna is present on the Steering Board and the Governing Board, it also co-chairs the strategic working group on "Resilience, infrastructure development and interconnections".
