In Germany, Sovello, one of the leading photovoltaic companies based in Saxony-Anhalt, will close.
In fact, after having fired 500 people, the other 500 remaining will receive letters of resignation, since due to the deep crisis that is affecting the company, they have only managed to get the funds for August salaries.
The bankruptcy trustee Lucas Floether specified that "there is no more money beyond this month", confirming that the search for an investor willing to take over the company is continuing.
The union's regional head for chemistry and energy, Erhard Kopitz, has called for financial intervention from the German government to save the company, calling the market "brutal and unfair".
The company has been in "insolvency" since May 2012 and was born after the dismemberment of the world leader in photovoltaics Q-Cells, which was also in a severe crisis. It was the Asian competition in the solar energy sector that put Q-Cells and Sovello in a serious crisis.
