Energy, new photovoltaic system in Potenza

European funds are used for 2014-2020 while the new center-right regional government wants to change course. 2,4 million Euros available for energy reconversion and redevelopment.

Energy, new photovoltaic system in Potenza

There is a large purifier in Potenza, in the Varco Izzo area, of the Lucano aqueduct which from September will be totally self-sufficient thanks to a photovoltaic system costing 1 million and 250 thousand euros. Latest generation panels that will produce 1,2 gigawatt hours, as if they were to give energy to 400 families. The news is of particular importance for Basilicata, which is already on the road to energy efficiency and renewables. With a new guide, however, passed from the center-left to the hands of Vito Bardi of the center-right. However, as is already the case for other integrated services, the Potenza purifier will also manage itself without annoying impacts on the environment.

The works have begun and the feasibility studies foresee a lifespan of 25 years. If everything will work out, the panels will collectively generate about 30 gigawatt hours.

September is near and the money has arrived since Fund for Development and Cohesion (FSC) 2014-2020 assigned to the Region with the Pact for the Development of Basilicata. The Lucanian aqueduct is organizing everything on the vast area occupied by the disposal plant without affecting the landscape in which it is inserted. Even this way of proceeding is not a trivial matter, considering the past oppositions to energy plants in Val d'Agri, a few minutes from Potenza.

"We - said Giandomenico Marchese, administrator of the Lucano Aqueduct - think that these works represent an important contribution to improving the drinking water infrastructure system". In fact they become more efficient and sustainable. The construction of the new photovoltaic source plant accredits a transition process both on the sustainable use of energy using alternative sources, and pursuing savings on one of the main items of the Company's balance sheet. The regional context appears favourable, because 2,4 million euros are to be spent precisely for these purposes.

Net of the bureaucracy and the political choices of the new Giunta, i should be published new tenders to assign community resources to businesses.

Basilicata on an even more general level needs infrastructure. And not only because it is occasionally reminded that there is still no railway worthy of the name here. The real game is actually being played on infrastructural networks and integrated energy-sustainability-growth systems. Important companies and local companies have come together in sector clusters to invest and grow virtuous energy-environment circuits.

All in all, the photovoltaic panels of the Potenza purifier are indicative of a will and a choice. That the new regional government wants to review. Starting, to stay on the subject of energy, with wind power. Without too many words, the new governor Bardi said he wanted to change practices and methods followed up to now and that the new landscape plan will mark a discontinuity, with a clear no to wild wind power. Under accusation the lack of regional policies for the correct installation of systems that has produced havoc in the territory. He wants to open up to sustainable policies, however, enhancing by-products and waste from agricultural, food and forestry processes for energy purposes. In other words, a bioeconomy that needs plants yet to be put up. A new vision of things but which requires slow times. On the other hand, the cancellation of the previous Council's waste plan is not a reassuring sign, again to stay on the energy-environment theme. We review everything and how to spend European money? Fortunately, the works in the Potenza purifier do not run this risk.
