Energy: Indra acquires Acs for 46 million

Indra acquires the US Advanced Control Systems (ACS) in a 46 million dollar deal. The operation marks Indra's entry into the US and Canadian markets, which thus add up to those of Southern Europe, South America and Africa. Thus, Indra tries to seize the high potential of a market that is expected to grow by 20% a year, reaching an estimated size of 1.800 million dollars in 2021

The consultancy and technology company Indra acquires the US company Advanced Control Systems (ACS) – specialized in the production of energy control and distribution systems – for 46 million dollars.

With this operation, Indra enters the markets of the USA and Canada which add up to those of Southern Europe, South America and Africa where the company was already present.

“With this transaction – as stated in the company note – Indra aims to exploit the high growth potential of the global market for advanced management of energy transport and distribution networks, which has been estimated at 700 million dollars a year in 2016 and expected to grow at an annual rate of 20% during the period 2016-2021 to reach USD 1.800 million/year in 2021”.

The two companies are highly complementary both in terms of product offerings and in terms of customers and geographical areas covered and the operation allows Indra to significantly improve its competitive position in the Energy sector.

Indra estimates that ACS, which currently has a double-digit EBITDA margin, could triple or quadruple its sales that totaled $23,5 million in 2017 over the next five years.

The US company has more than 360 customers, concentrated in the United States and Canada. It also has customers and some orders in Central America, South Africa, India and Taiwan. Its staff consists of approximately 120 employees and has a consolidated commercial structure and a solid portfolio of projects.

ACS will maintain its current management structure, while Indra will assign other executives to the team in order to capture all the synergies identified in the Business Plan.
