Energy in Sardinia: Snam buys a ship from Golar for the storage and regasification of LNG

Snam e goal, a midstream liquefied natural gas company, have signed a contract under which Golar will transfer the LNG tanker “Golar Arctic”, prior conversion into storage and regasification units (FSRU), to be installed in the port area of ​​Portovesme, in Sardinia, as foreseen by the project for the energy supply of the island.

Snam communicates it in a note, specifying that the contract has a total value of 269 million euro and includes the purchase of the vessel and the investment necessary for its conversion into a FSRU with a storage capacity of up to 140.000 cubic metres. Following the complete conversion, the FSRU will be sold to the Snam Group.

The launch of the vessel conversion activities and the consequent fulfilments are subject to the issuance by Snam of a Notice-to-Proceed (NTP), following which the delivery of the FSRU can take place within approximately two years.
