Energy, the blockage of the drills sends Ravenna into crisis

How long can Ravenna and its oil and gas district be kept in check because of the measure blocks drills? The city, the trade unions, Confindustria have asked the Minister of Economic Development, Stefano Patuanelli again and in very decisive tones, for a meeting to try to overcome the crisis that is blocking the largest Italian oil and gas center.

Politics is compact, except the Five Stars who didn't even go to the last meetings in the Prefecture. A behavior that confirms the suspicions – and something more – about dilatory maneuvers, markedly ideological against extractions in the Adriatic.

“All the reminders sent so far to the Mise by me as a representative of the Municipality of Ravenna, from Confindustria and the unions to ask to convene a crisis table have always remained unanswered” said the mayor of Ravenna Michele de Pascale.

The prefect of Ravenna, Enrico Caterina, coordinates the provincial table, but the wait is for a Roman table chaired by Patuanelli. A missed appointment ever since Luigi Di Maio sat at the Mise.

The state of crisis is now clear, even if not declared. The Italian gas supply chain remains, in any case, strategic. And – the Femca Cisl Romagna secretary Emanuele Scerra increases the dose – we owe this crisis to the demagogic choices of the Five Stars, because even in the Energy and Climate Plans signed by them it is written in black and white that the demand for gas will continue to increase in Italy in the coming 30 years. National extractions are supplemented by imports, which cost more, weigh on the trade balance while in the Romagna pole, industries and jobs are put at risk.

In these hours, the CGIL, CISL and UIL are also evaluating a demonstration for March 16 and it is not clear whether in Ravenna or Rome where the decisive match is actually being played. National politics has the opportunity to review some positions within the government structure. Ultimately, it is the parties with their programs and the famous 25 points of the Conte bis that have to concretely say what they intend to do for a historic area of gas production and treatment. Ravenna, but also other sites, remain fundamental in the energy transition. Do you really think that until 2030, the Italian economy will do without gas and oil? Environmental leaps forward are changing important parts of the Italian economy. Of course, the national energy and climate plan has been shared with the European Union, but gradualness is written inside. A value that cannot be seen starting from Ravenna.
