The hands mark the chimes of the last month before entering the crucial decade for the 2030 Agenda, which lists the sustainable development goals to be achieved in a social, economic and ecological key. With a view to promoting the decarbonisation, the energy transition and the electrification of consumption in the near future, the National Wind Energy Association (Anev) and Elettricità Futura, i.e. the union of Italian electricity companies, have signed a memorandum of understanding to confirm the commonality of intent which has already seen them engage in recent years and move first steps together to face the challenges facing the electricity sector.   In particular, it is a matter of proceeding – through a new coordination committee – towards the reform of market design, the decarbonisation of the system, smart grids and the electrification of consumption.

“To achieve the objectives outlined in the Energy and Climate Plan, in which the wind will play a fundamental role for our country, it is essential to undertake a path of implementation of an integrated and inclusive industrial chain capable of increasing the best conditions for attracting investments and guaranteeing our country concrete tools and development prospects", said Simone Mori, president of Elettricità Futura.

The aim of the agreement is to launch coordinated activities on topics of common interest and aimed at presenting joint positions to institutional interlocutors through the creation of a coordination committee, which can guarantee representation in the sectors of competence and verify that the actions identified can be developed on the basis of the principles and rules that the individual associations are required to comply with in line with the relative specificities.

“Achieving the objectives set by the Pniec is central for everyone, for which the wind sector represents a fundamental lever. Thanks to this agreement, actions such as those that Anev and Elettricità Futura will implement together will make it easier to achieve and exceed the objectives set and implement the transition that will lead to full decarbonisation of the sector”, concluded Simone Togni, president of Anev.
