Enel X: launches demand response plan in Taiwan

Enel X has joined the demand response program launched by Taiwan Power Company, Taiwan's electricity company.

Demand response allows you to increase or decrease energy consumption in response to peaks in electricity supply or demand. In short, the ultimate goal is to ensure greater flexibility and grid stability, allowing members to use energy assets more efficiently. Enel X is well positioned in the demand response market with over 6,3 GW of managed capacity.

In this context, the company led by Francesco Venturini has established a partnership with a diversified group of customers active in demand response, including companies belonging to various product sectors (cold storage, processing of food products, manufacturing and industrial plants), which will participate in the virtual plant of Enel X, "which today offers its demand flexibility services to TPC, helping to preserve the stability and security of the country's electricity grid", explains the company in a statement.

Francesco Venturini, CEO of Enel X, said: “We are offering Taiwanese companies a new category of opportunity. By joining our virtual powerhouse, businesses can now generate a new revenue stream while providing critical support for the power grid. In addition, virtual power plants and energy storage systems will be critical to Taiwan's long-term transition to renewable energy."
Companies participating in the program are paid to modulate their consumption in response to the needs of the electricity network. “Specifically – says Enel X – these programs incentivize end users to adjust your energy consumption in order to facilitate the stabilization of the grid when required by the system".
