Enel X agreement with Ferrari: new photovoltaic plant in Maranello

The plant at the historic headquarters of the Prancing Horse will make it possible to increase energy self-production and reduce CO2 emissions

Enel X agreement with Ferrari: new photovoltaic plant in Maranello

Enel X and Ferrari will achieve a photovoltaic system on the roofs of the factories of the automotive group in Maranello. With a total maximum power of 1.535 kWp and over 3.800 solar panels, the new solar park will allow the self-production of more than 1,6 million kilowatt hours (kWh) per year, with an estimated saving of over 18.500 tons of CO2 equivalent in 25 years , or about 740 tons per year.

The Enel X project for the automotive group in Maranello

The project studied for Ferrari consists of 4 different sections of systems, of which the construction of the first part has already started on the roof of a building at the headquarters. Once fully operational, the plant will allow the company to self-produce 1.626.802 kWh/year.

In addition, Enel X - he explains in a note - will implement an innovative project in terms of technology and design, conceived ad hoc for Ferrari: a parking shelter completely "off grid" which allows the production of energy through a 5.5 kWp photovoltaic system with double-sided panels and a 20 kWh battery storage. The system will allow the recharging of the hybrid cars of the House and future full-electric Ferraris with solar energy. Performance will be monitored by Enel X's Energy Management System, which will project data in real time via an LCD screen integrated into the infrastructure.

The words of Venturini (Enel X) and Vigna (Ferrari)

"We will offer Ferrari a customized system for the self-production of energy which will decisively contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions, containing the company's energy expenditure - he explained Francesco Venturini, head of Enel X -. This collaboration consolidates our leadership position in the development and implementation of solutions that accelerate the energy transition and enable partners to achieve the challenging goals of decarbonizing their businesses”.

“Together with Enel X and our other partners, we are developing new solutions that will significantly contribute to reducing CO2 emissions and – he underlined Benedict Vigna, CEO of Ferrari –. The challenge of becoming carbon neutral by 2030 is a further stimulus for Ferrari to innovate in every area, intervening with a scientific and holistic approach on all sources of emissions: not only in the use phase of the cars, but also along the chain of supply and in the production plants”.
