Enel sells the Belgian Marcinelle Energie

Enel concludes the sale of the company Marcinelle Energie SA, owner of a CCGT plant, to the French Direct Energie for a total consideration of approximately 36,5 million euros, fully paid.

Enel closes today the sale of Marcinelle Energie SA, a 100% subsidiary of Enel Investment Holding BV, a vehicle company owned by Enel, to the French electricity supplier Direct Energie SA, for a total consideration of approximately 36,5 million euros, fully paid. The sale price will be subject to policy adjustments including an earn-out clause.

With the sale, that confirms the agreement signed on 28 September, Enel leaves the Belgian market. Marcinelle Energie owns and operates a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant of approximately 400 MW, located in Belgium.

The sale is part of the 8 billion euro sale of non-strategic assets envisaged in Enel's active portfolio management plan. This strategy will allow the Group to reallocate resources to promote growth in key sectors such as networks and renewable energies. To date, the Enel Group has finalized agreements for the sale of assets for a value of approximately 4,1 billion euros.

situated in Charleroi, Wallonia, the Marcinelle CCGT plant was completed in 2012 and employs approximately 40 people. In 2015, it produced nearly 1,2 TWh of electricity.
