The Italian energy multinational was awarded, through its subsidiary BLP Energy, the first auction on renewables in India, ensuring the right to sign a twenty-five-year contract for the supply of energy generated by a 285 MW wind farm in the state of Gujarat, reads a note.

The plant was awarded in the fourth phase of the national tender for 2 GW of wind capacity organized by the public company Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

“We are very pleased to have won the first renewable energy tender in India, making an important step towards strengthening and structuring our presence in a country that we consider strategic,” he commented. Antonio Cammisecra, head of Enel Green Power, Enel's Global Renewable Energy Division. “In the future, we plan to expand further into India and also look at growth across the Asia-Pacific region, making the most of the enormous availability of renewable sources and the growing demand for energy in the area.”

Enel will invest more than 290 million dollars for the construction of the wind farm, supported by a twenty-five-year contract which provides for the sale of certain volumes of the energy generated to SECI.
