Enel, three projects for development: university, research and youth entrepreneurship

Enel launches three new projects to support research, universities and youth entrepreneurship: Enel Lab, a laboratory to support energy start-ups with an investment of up to 15 million euros for the next 3 years, the Enel Study Center Foundation, and the program "Energies for Research", which provides 20 scholarships for young people in collaboration with the Crui Foundation (Conference of Italian University Rectors).

The initiatives were presented today in Rome. They were present Francesco Profumo, Minister of Education, Fulvio Conti, CEO and general manager of Enel, Marco Mancini, president of the Conference of Italian Rectors, e Alexander Costa, director of the Enel Foundation.

“These three projects – ha Accounts – have a common development objective: to favor and encourage, above all through young people, the birth of new initiatives and research activities which in the coming years can contribute to giving a renewed impetus to the entrepreneurial system and, more generally, to innovation as fundamental tool for relaunching the current difficult economic situation”.

With Enel Lab, Enel and Endesa set up a business laboratory to promote innovation projects in the clean technology which may be presented by Italian and Spanish start-ups. The first selection of projects will start in July and end in February 2013, with the selection of 6 start-ups that will receive funding of up to 650.000 euros and which will subsequently be incubated within the company.

La Enel Study Center Foundation it is instead a non-profit institution, aimed at developing studies and research, promoting higher education initiatives and disseminating energy, socio-economics, sustainable development and innovation issues.

Energies for Researchfinally, provides for a call for tenders for the assignment of 20 scholarships to be provided in collaboration with Vintage in the field of renewable sources, energy efficiency, air quality and electric mobility, smart grids, access to energy, energy policies, the economy and business, corporate social responsibility and safety on construction sites.

They will be able to access the program i graduates from the specialist/master's degree course or PhDs at the faculties of engineering, architecture, industrial chemistry, environmental sciences, medicine, economics, statistics, law, political and communication sciences. The selected projects, which will be financed by the Enel Foundation with an amount of 15.000 euros each, must be original and include research activities to be carried out in the 10 months following the granting of the scholarship.
