Enel, Starace in New York for climate week

The event was organized in order to address the issue of climate change and try to find solutions to address it.

Francesco Starace, CEO of Enel, flew to New York to participate in the tenth edition of Climate Week NYC, an event organized to address the issue of climate change and try to find solutions to tackle it.

On the occasion of the opening ceremony, Starace underlined how electricity can drive the decarbonization of economies and address the main global challenges such as resource scarcity, population growth, highlighting the role of technology and finance in supporting growth sustainable and inclusive.

“In the last ten years, technological progress has completely changed the approach to climate change: the development of renewable energy is there for all to see and is supported not only by our commitment to the climate, but above all by economic factors, ” declared Enel CEO Francesco Starace. “By leveraging the growing competitiveness of renewables and the development of storage systems, electricity can lead to a reduction of greenhouse gases in some sectors where decarbonisation is often more difficult, such as heavy industry, transport, heating and cooling. A deeper penetration of electricity into final consumption will be the real turning point in making our economies truly clean."

We recall that Enel – together with Eni and Pirelli – has been confirmed among the companies lead from the Global Compact, a forum of business and civil society leaders called by the UN Secretary General to lead the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
