The Italian energy multinational becomes the first Italian company to subscribe to i B Team Responsible Tax Principles, i.e. the principles developed by the global group B Team to promote responsible and sustainable tax practices, for a better future.
Specifically, the B Team Responsible Tax Principles were developed by a global group of business and civil society leaders working to create new business leadership and a new way of doing business that measures success not only in terms of financial performance, but also the health of people and our planet, for the benefit of future generations.
This is the first consolidated effort by a group of cross-sector and cross-regional companies to define best practices in 7 key areas of taxation, from corporate governance to relations with the authorities and with all stakeholders, in support of conduct based on transparency.
The adhesion of the Enel Group to the Responsible Tax Principles therefore confirms the importance that the company attributes to tax transparency in order to achieve Sustainable Development. In fact, Enel encourages the adoption of responsible corporate tax practices in all the countries where it operates to support fair and effective tax systems that contribute to society and sustainable development.
“We firmly believe that tax transparency favors sustainable development – he declared Alberto De Paoli, CFO of the Enel Group -. In line with the new concept of stakeholder capitalism that directs our actions, we are convinced that companies, today more than ever, must play an important role by contributing to the economic, social and sustainable progress of the countries in which they are present".
“This contribution, in addition to the investments generated, job opportunities and adequate long-term growth, is also directly linked to a fair tax contribution. Adherence to the B Team Responsible Tax Principles is further confirmation of the importance that the Enel Group attributes to the tax variable and the role it plays in the development of our society”, concluded De Paoli.
