Enel publishes preliminary data for 2011: revenues up 8,3%

The preliminary data of the energy company have been published: 2011 saw revenues and EBITDA grow, while net financial debt decreased – Satisfied CEO Fulvio Conti: “The objectives set were achieved”.

Enel publishes preliminary data for 2011: revenues up 8,3%

The Board of Directors of Enel SpA, which met today under the chairmanship of Paolo Andrea Colombo, examined the preliminary consolidated results for 2011. I revenues amount to 79,5 billion euros, an increase of 8,3% compared to the 73,4 billion euro of 2010 essentially thanks to higher revenues from the generation and trading of electricity and fuel and the growth in revenues from the sale of energy on the free market abroad.

THEEbitda (gross operating margin), equal to 17,7 billion euros, is an increase of 1,1% compared to the 17,5 billion euros of 2010 essentially due to the positive contribution of the Infrastructure and Networks, Renewable Energy and Market Divisions, partially offset by the reduction in the margin of the Generation and Energy Management Division and of the Iberia and Latin America Division. 

THEnet financial debt at the end of 2011 it amounted to 44,6 billion euro, down by approximately 0,3 billion euro compared to the 44,9 billion euros recorded at the end of 2010.

The texture of the staff at the end of 2011 it is equal to 75.360 unit (78.313 units at the end of 2010). Commenting on the data, the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager Fulvio Conti he said: “Once again in 2011 the Group achieved both the objective of reducing net financial debt and that of increasing the gross operating margin. These results were achieved thanks in particular to geographical and technological diversification, which compensated for the generally unfavorable context of the economic cycle which, moreover, is expected to continue also during 2012”.

During the 2011, the Enel Group produced a total of 293,9 TWh of electricity (290,2 TWh in 2010), distributed 435,0 TWh (431,6 TWh in 2010) on its networks and sold 311,8 TWh (309,0 TWh in 2010). In particular, during 2011 abroad the Enel Group produced 214,9 TWh of electricity (208,6 TWh in 2010), distributed 188,9 TWh (184,6 TWh in 2010) and sold 207,6 TWh (195,6 TWh in 2010).

As regards the dividend calendar which will be paid in 2012, it is expected that the balance of the dividend relating to the 2011 financial year will be paid on 21 June 2012, with the "ex-dividend date" coinciding with 18 June 2012. During the 2012 financial year the distribution of any interim dividends accrued during the year is not envisaged, according to the provisions of today's Board of Directors.
