Enel, first contacts with Niel on ultra-broadband

The French operator and the Italian electricity giant would have had the first contacts for the rental of the fiber network that Enel Open Fiber is building - Iliad should enter the Italian market starting from the second half of 2017.

Iliad is in preliminary contacts with Enel to evaluate the possibility of leasing the ultra-broadband built through Enel OpEn Fiber (EOF). The French operator, which controls the telecommunications provider Free, should enter the Italian market in the second half of 2017 and is therefore investigating the possibility of leasing the network at lower prices than Telecom Italia would.

Contacts between the parties were also confirmed by Enel CEO Francesco Starace, on the sidelines of the New York Times Energy for Tomorrow conference. According to Starace, after these first contacts, the leaders of Iliad are deciding what to do. Iliad, on the other hand, did not comment.
