Enel is Lead Global Compact for the tenth consecutive year

Enel, for the tenth consecutive year, was reconfirmed as a LEAD company of the Global Compact. The Global Compact's LEAD recognition celebrates companies with the highest commitment to United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) initiatives, as well as those who are deeply committed to implementing the Ten Principles of the Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). ) in its business activities. This was announced in a note from the Enel group. The announcement comes on the eve of the virtual event #Uniting Business LIVE, which will be held between 21 and 23 September 2020, at the opening of the 75a session of the United Nations General Assembly.

"Enel continues, in line with the commitment made by the Group five years ago at the 2015 United Nations Summit on Sustainable Development, to work tirelessly in pursuit of the SDGs, in compliance with the Ten Principles of the Global Compact", he stated Francesco Starace, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Enel. 

Enel is the only Italian company at the three days of the UN. Francesco Starace, will speak, as part of the Global Impact Forum, during the session ”Accelerating Global Climate Action for a 1.5°C Future to Recover Better Together”, while on 23 September he will intervene in the session “Catalysing Finance and Investment for the Achievement of SDG 7” during the SDG Business Forum. The CFO of Enel, Albert DePaoli, join the global launch of the 21st September as a speaker “CFO Principles for integrated SDGs, Investment and Finance” and will be co-chair of the CFO Task Force of the UN Global Compact.

The CFO Taskforce is the first ever global initiative involving CFOs with the aim of forging a dialogue with other CFOs, investors, financial institutions, and the United Nations, to share ideas for promoting corporate finance sustainable and scalable investments in the wake of the SDGs set by the UN. This initiative leverages nearly 10.000 businesses.
