Enel, has been awarded since October 1, 2022 to September 30, 2023, 218 megawatts of demand management skills in the last EirGrid Group tender, the Irish transmission grid operator. The company thus confirms itself as the commercial leader in Ireland by managing the 52% of demand response capacity of the island.

In Ireland, campaigns have been planned auctions on an annual basis to ensure a convenient answer to theincrease in energy demand expected in approx four years. The Irish electricity market will integrate with the rest of Europe in the context of a new wholesale market, the Integrated Single Electricity Market. This new model will facilitate the integration of more renewable sources into the system.

Demand Management programs are designed to encourage energy-intensive businesses, such as data centers, manufacturing plants and commercial real estate companies to upgrade theirs energy consumption, reducing or increasing it. The Irish program will provide users with a annual fee in exchange for their willingness to respond to any network emergencies, plus a fee in case of effective reduction in energy demand from the network.
