Enel invests 100 million in three new solar plants in Spain

Enel Green Power España, the renewable energy division of Endesa, has started the construction of three solar plants in Spain.

The plants will be located in Extremadura, in the municipality of Logrosán, near Cáceres, and will have a total capacity of approximately 127 MW. The total investment by Enel is equal to 100 million euros.

"The construction of these first solar parks in the Extremadura region represents an important milestone for the Group and for the country and favors the strengthening of our presence in the photovoltaic sector in new areas of the important Spanish market" he commented Antonio Cammisecra, head of Enel's global renewable energy business line, Enel Green Power.

In detail, the three sites of Baylio, Dehesa de los Guadalupes and Furatena will each have an installed capacity of over 42 MW and will consist of around 372.000 photovoltaic modules.

The start-up is scheduled for the end of 2019 and, once fully operational, they will be able to generate over 240 GWh per year, avoiding the emission of approximately 120.000 tons of CO into the atmosphere2 the year.

The construction works will follow Enel Green Power's "Sustainable Construction Site" model, which involves the use of a 20 kW photovoltaic system at each site to meet the site's energy demand during construction works, in addition to other initiatives aimed at involving the local population.
