Enel Green Power: go-ahead for a wind farm in Chile

Enel Green Power completed and connected the Talinay Poniente wind farm in Chile to the grid. The new wind farm, made up of 32 wind turbines, for a total installed capacity of 61 MW, is capable of generating up to over 160 GWh per year, equivalent to the consumption needs of about 60 Chilean families, thus avoiding the emission of over 130 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.

The construction of the wind farm, in line with the growth objectives established in Enel Green Power's 2014-2018 business plan, required a total investment of approximately 140 million US dollars. The project is associated with energy sales contracts for the supply of regulated customers, based on the tender, created for the SIC (Central Interconnected System) by 26 distribution companies, which EGP was awarded at the end of 2013. The energy produced will be delivered to the transmission network of the same SIC. The plant is located in the Coquimbo region, in front of the Talinay Oriente park (90 MW), already operational since 2013.
