Enel Green Power, new wind farm in Mexico

Enel Green Power has completed and connected to the grid the new Sureste I-Phase II wind farm in Mexico, in the state of Oaxaca. The plant, made up of 34 wind turbines of 3 MW each, for a total installed capacity of 102 MW, is capable of generating approximately 390 GWh per year. The energy produced by Sureste I-Phase II will be delivered to the Mexican national transmission grid through an Ixtepec Potencia electrical substation, located near the plant.

Enel Green Power was awarded the right to build Sureste I-Phase II in a public tender for External Energy Producers launched by the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE). The project is associated with a twenty-year purchase contract for the energy produced by the plant (PPA).

The construction of the wind farm, in line with the growth objectives established in Enel Green Power's 2014-2018 business plan, required a total investment of almost 160 million US dollars.

In June 2013, Enel Green Power, through Enel Green Power Mexico S. de RL de CV entered into a loan agreement for 100 million US dollars with the BBVA Bancomer financial group. With Sureste I-Phase II, Enel Green Power's total installed capacity in Mexico reaches 399 MW, of which 346 MW from wind and 53 MW from hydro.
