Enel Green Power (EGP) has started work on the construction of two new photovoltaic plants in the municipality of Tacaratu, in the state of Pernambuco, in northeastern Brazil. In the same area, EGP owns and operates Fontes dos Ventos, an 80 MW wind farm, to which both photovoltaic plants will be connected once built.

With a total installed capacity of 11 MW, Fontes Solar I and II constitute EGP's largest photovoltaic park in Brazil and, once operational, will be able to generate up to over 17 GWh per year, equivalent to the consumption needs of approximately 90 Brazilian families, thus avoiding the emission of more than 5 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.

An investment of approximately 18 million US dollars is required for the construction of the plants. Both projects are associated with a twenty-year purchase contract for the energy produced by the plants (PPA), which will be delivered to end customers in the state of Pernambuco, based on the tender that Enel Green Power won in December 2013.
