Enel GP successfully closes crowdfunding for renewables

The first launch of “Renewable Choice"of Enel Green Power ends successfully, denying the prejudice of the Nimby obsession (not in my backyard). In just two weeks, the residents of Poggio Renatico, in the province of Ferrara, have saturated the crowdfunding fundraising goal promoted by Enel Green Power for the construction of new renewable plants in Italy.

The crowdfunding campaign, in support of the construction of a photovoltaic system to be carried out in the municipality, saw the local community participate with great interest, fully covering the expected fundraising target of 100 thousand euros.

Enel Green Power is in fact building a solar plant with a power of around 17 MW in the Emilian municipality, which will guarantee the supply of renewable electricity to more than 8.300 families and will help avoid the emission of more than 11 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere (CO2) every year.

Given the great success of the first launch, the company has decided to increase the maximum funding limit, bringing it to a total of 200 thousand, an amount equal to double the initial target. On 16 October, the campaign was opened to the entire national territory and, on the same day, it was fully saturated, well in advance of the 30 days available to those interested in investing in the initiative.

“This project – he explained Eleanor Petrarch, Head of Business Development Italy of Enel Green Power – aims to promote the energy transition by giving individual citizens the opportunity to actively contribute to the path towards a more sustainable future, sharing the benefits deriving from the presence of new renewable plants in the area . We have found great interest and participation from the local area”.

"We are satisfied with the response of the Poggese community to this initiative, a sign of attention to the energy and ecological transition" - he added Daniel Garuti, Mayor of Poggio Renatico -. The Municipality of Poggio Renatico is happy with the relationship with Enel Green Power and we are now awaiting the commissioning of the plant in our area, which due to its characteristics is suited to these initiatives".
