Enel – Fs: memorandum signed on innovation

Enel and Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop joint innovative projects in the fields of transport and energy. The areas of interest concern 3D printing, the efficient use of electricity, the sharing of innovation and co-working spaces and the joint participation in national and international projects financed by the State and/or by the European Community.

The three-year Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Gianluigi Castelli, Head of the Central Innovation and Information Systems Department of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and Ernesto Ciorra, Head of the Innovation and Sustainability Function of Enel.

“The agreement with Ferrovie – declared Ernesto Ciorra – paves the way for a large number of co-innovation opportunities, focusing on new frontiers of common interest, in which both Groups are investing, looking to the future of transport, logistics and energy".

“The signing of the MoU – declared Gianluigi Castelli – represents the first step of a strategic collaboration not only for our respective companies, but for the country system. The creation of synergies between two companies characterized by a pervasive network structure and assets of national interest, allows the creation of innovative projects, otherwise impossible, which exploit the best combination of people, skills, technologies and emerging business models."

The skills possessed by the two companies are perfectly complementary in their ability to study and apply innovative solutions in the transport and energy fields, in line with market developments and such as to create significant synergies, including infrastructural ones.
