Enel and Generali, here is the other Italy that is growing

In the dark hours in which our country ends up under accusation in Europe, Enel and Generali, with their new industrial plans, demonstrate that another Italy is possible: an Italy that believes in growth and knows how to reconcile generous shareholder remuneration and savers with the development of investments, innovation and acquisitions

Enel and Generali, here is the other Italy that is growing

There is something symbolic in the temporal coincidence between Italy that ends up under accusation in Europe for his adventurous budget maneuver and the ambitious development plans presented in Milan that looks to the future by two of the few large Italian groups, theFrancesco Starace's Enel and Generals by Philippe Donnet.

The signal that Enel and Generali launch with theirs new business plans is very clear and goes beyond the expectations of the financial community. Precisely in the dark hours in which Italy, through its own responsibility, finds itself on the margins of Europe, Enel and Generali, the largest electricity group and the largest insurance company in our house, send word to the entire country that resigning yourself to decline is not an obligation and that there is an Italy that knows how and wants to grow and who knows how to look ahead and assert themselves all over the world. It is an Italy that fills us with pride and that comforts us even in times when there is great confusion under the sky of politics and the future is very uncertain.

Enel and Generali have different jobs, just as their industrial plans for the next three years are different. But there is a red thread that unites them, beyond the temporal coincidence of the presentation of their new business plans: both believe in development and in ' innovation, both know that their business does not end at our border, both want to grow and both renew their bet - first of all with themselves - to know how generously remunerate shareholders and savers who believe in them with the desire to invest and, if possible, to shop smart .

“We will buy more than we sell,” he argued Enel's number one, Francesco Starace, which aims to raise the group's profit to over 5 billion euros by investing 27, to accelerate on renewable energy and decarbonisation and to judiciously open the door to the single telecommunications network in a purely industrial logic. "Acquisitions are not announced beforehand but are made" when promising opportunities are found, he echoed the head of Generali, the French Philippe Donnet which has now fully integrated into the Italian reality and which, in addition to the significant growth in profits and dividends, has planned the development and consolidation of the leadership of the insurance group not only internally but also externally, thanks to the resources accumulated with cost cutting, divestments and revenue growth.

Enel's core business obviously remains electricity but Starace pushed her to look beyond her original business to put their skills at the service of a major project to modernize the country such as, with Open Fiber, the development of ultra-broadband network. Similarly, insurance policies remain at the core of Generali's business Donnet does not forget the importance - especially in stormy times like these - to better manage the savings of Italians and pushes the company to strengthen itself more and more in asset management, in Europe but not only.

Each in its own way and together with other jewels of our industry and our finances, Enel and Generali remind us that, even in a moment of serious disarray in the country, in Italy there is a wealth of productive energies and professional skills on which Luckily, you can always rely on it. This is the Italy we like.
