There are almost 4 billion funds from Pnrr is Enel has been awarded with the various projects within the Mission, named Green Revolution and Ecological Transition. In the last few days, 3 tenders have also been won to produce green hydrogen. In each tender, Enel was awarded first place in the merit ranking. This was reported by the director of Enel, Nicola Lanzetta, to Ansa.
Green hydrogen: projects in Puglia, Calabria and Liguria
The latest tenders won, with a total value of around 38 million euros, concern projects in Calabria, Puglia and Liguria for the production of green hydrogen in abandoned industrial areas. Among the most important tenders assigned there is that of distribution networks with a view to smart grids, the expansion of the photovoltaic panel factory 3 Sun of Catania, the development of plants for the production of green hydrogen and the improvement of the water infrastructure of the Pozzillo dam (Enna). The projects will enhance areas where there are decommissioned thermoelectric plants such as the Rossano Calabro plant, the Federico II plant in Brindisi and the Eugenio Montale plant in La Spezia.
The Capodacqua hydroelectric plant is back in service
Enel, through Enel Green Power, announced the return to the production of renewable energy of the hydroelectric plant of Capodacqua in Arquata del Tronto in the province of Ascoli Piceno. The plant had been shut down since 2016 following the earthquake that hit the area. The works, which lasted two years, in the name of sustainability and circular economy, saw the rebuilding of the plant which was completely renovated. The plant, built in 1906, is part of the system of plants built along the Tronto valley, has an installed power of 300kW and is able to meet the energy needs of about 400 families.
What is the Green Revolution and Ecological Transition mission?
The ecological transition is one of the pillars of Next Generation EU project and constitutes an essential guideline for future development. The Green Revolution and Ecological Transition mission is one of the objectives of the Pnrr (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), the plan approved in 2021 by Italy to relaunch its economy after the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to allow green development and digital of the country. This deals with the major issues of sustainable agriculture, the circular economy, the energy transition, sustainable mobility, the energy efficiency of buildings, water resources and pollution, in order to improve the sustainability of the economic system and ensures a just and inclusive transition towards a zero environmental impact society.
