Enel: ultra-fast charging stations in Italy, France and Spain

The experimentation of a first extra-urban charging network for electric vehicles with a range of more than 300 km begins - The project, coordinated by Enel in collaboration with EDF, Enedis, Verbund, Nissan, Groupe Renault and Ibil, involves an investment of 6,9 million euros, co-financed by the EU Commission.

The "E-VIA FLEX-E mobility in Italy, France and Spain" project is launched, coordinated by Enel and co-financed by the EU Commission, which involves the installation of 14 ultra-fast charging stations in Europe.

The goal, reads the note released by the Italian giant, is to experiment with a network that allows new electric vehicles, with an autonomy of more than 300 km, to travel long distances and to contribute to the development and diffusion of e-cars in Europe.

The project, presented by Enel as coordinator, in collaboration with the utilities EDF, Enedis and Verbund, the car manufacturers Nissan and Groupe Renault and Ibil, a Spanish company specializing in charging services for electric vehicles, was selected by the EU Commission as part of the Connecting Europe Facility Transport 2016 call, obtaining a loan that will cover half of the necessary investment. The overall budget co-financed by the Commission is approximately €6,9 million. Enel will invest 3,4 million euros in the project, also co-financed by the European executive.

By the end of 2018, the Enel press release explains, the installation of ultra-fast charging points (High Power Charging - HPC) will begin in 14 sites: 8 in Italy, 4 in Spain, and 2 in France. The charging stations will be high power with a range between 150 kW and 350 kW.

The network of ultra-fast charging stations of the E-VIA FLEX-E project will join that of EVA+ (Electric Vehicles Arteries), also co-financed by the European Commission, which provides for the installation in three years of 180 fast charging points (Fast Recharge Plus) along the Italian extra-urban routes. The first 40 Fast columns have already been installed and allow you to travel, among others, the Rome-Milan section on board an electric car.

E-VIA FLEX-E, concludes the note, is part of the activities promoted by Enel to encourage the development and diffusion of electric vehicles in Italy, with the National Plan for the installation of recharging infrastructures which will see the installation of around 7 thousand columns by 2020 to reach 14 in 2022. The program provides for widespread coverage in all Italian regions and foresees that over 2018 charging infrastructures distributed throughout the national territory will already be installed in 2.500.

In the meantime, Enel shares traded at 5,19 euros on Piazza Affari, down 0,95%.
