Enel, there is a gas agreement with Lukoil

“This agreement will be beneficial for both parties to explore new common opportunities in the natural gas value chain.” With these words Fulvio Conti, CEO of Enel, comments on the agreement signed with Vagit Alekperov and its subsidiary Lukoil.

The alliance was signed at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum and will allow cooperation between the two companies on upstream and midstream activities in Russia, as well as in other parts of Europe and North Africa. Abroad, the gas fields of Enel and Lukoil will be concentrated in the Caspian Sea and the North African basin.

The agreement also calls for knowledge sharing on liquefied natural gas marketing studies and pipelines in Europe and the Russian Federation. Conti expresses his willingness and satisfaction, underlining that both companies "will be able to benefit from the sharing of mutual knowledge and common activities". So much so that Lukoil is also willing to possibly supply Enel's OGK-5 gas-fired thermoelectric plants in Russia.
