Enel announced a sharp cut in energy rates a benefit of Italian businesses and familiesThe CEO announced it Flavio Cattaneo, speaking at Investopia in Milan: “For the small and medium-sized businesses we already have lowered prices by 40% compared to the first quarter of 2024, while for the families the reduction has exceeded the 20%. Prices will soon drop further to 54 euros per MWh, three euros less than the European monthly average, calculated by Eurostat on an average annual consumption of 2 MWh per household”.
“Confindustria represents all its members, including energy consumers, who however will receive approximately 80 euros of overall contributions between the various items. This year, thanks to the bill decree, the difference between spot prices and what they actually pay It will be around 35 euros. However, we are aware that energy prices must be lowered, and indeed we believe that this should happen for all companies, not just energy-intensive ones."
A new role for Enel in the energy market
Enel's number one also highlighted how the group is no longer the incumbent on the Italian electricity market. "Today Enel covers the 13% of the national generation, of which only 7% from renewable sources,” declared the CEO.
Looking to the future, Enel says it is ready to support the executive in developing new energy policies oriented towards sustainability. “The Government is working on further measures exploiting production from renewable sources,” concluded Cattaneo, “and Enel is available to implement the solutions that will be identified by the Executive.”
